JUSSIE SMOLLETT – HATE CRIME
Here's the next candidate for a possible fake news hate crime. Jussie Smollett, apparently an actor on some show I've never watched was bashed in Chicago by two white male Trump fans who made racist and homophobic remarks to him and told him "this is MAGA country." The start of the timeline is a bit murky and it's possible that the first news reports just got it wrong but the first reports said he left his hotel at 2am to walk to a Subway for a feed. Sometime during this journey he was attacked by the 2 assailants who bashed him, poured bleach (? or "an unidentified liquid," depending on which report you read) on him then tied a rope around his neck.
Firstly, I know what bleach smells like. If someone poured a bottle of bleach on you, you would identify it immediately.
Second, he must have been heading back to his hotel because the police have found video of him sitting in Subway eating.
Thirdly, it was -11C in Chicago that night but these obviously very dedicated Trump-supporting assaulters still waited around with their bleach container and rope for a victim. I'm surprised they would have to wait that long to find a black victim in Chicago.
Fourth, Smollet still had the rope around his neck when he was "found" at a friend's flat 45 minutes later. Perhaps it's just me and I'm no expert on the etiquette of lynching symbology but I would have taken the rope from around my neck much earlier in the scenario.

Smollett went for a late-night meal sometime after midnight at a Subway restaurant at 511 N. McClurg Court, police said. The actor was walking back to a nearby apartment about 2 a.m. when two people walked up to him in the 300 block of East North Lower Water Street, yelling racist and homophobic slurs, Smollett told police.
“The alleged assailants made racially charged comments to the victim implying that they knew he was a star from the show,” police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said.
They then hit him in the face, poured a substance — suspected to be bleach — on him and put a rope around his neck, police said.
Smollett initially was “reluctant” to call police because of the attention he would generate as a public figure, Guglielmi said. But his manager eventually called at 2:42 a.m., about 40 minutes after the attack.
When officers showed up at the apartment, the rope was still around Smollett’s neck, said Guglielmi, who described the rope as a “thin, light rope.” Guglielmi said the rope didn’t necessarily resemble a noose.
